Abstract mixed media artist working currently on "splatter paintings" as a new technique to apply colors onto textured canvas surface
I became interested in art while in high school in San Diego. I took a few courses at San Francisco Art Institute and then moved to New York City where I had a studio for a while.
I started my firefighting career in Brattleboro, VT and later transferred to the Nashua, N.H. Fire Rescue where I retired as Lieutenant.
Now I have the freedom to paint full-time; I love going into my studio and working away.
I start most works with texture of rocks, modeling paste, sand, plaster and gels. Then I pour, drip, spray, brush and splatter colors until it feels done. I mostly work on canvas and burlap. I don’t know where these things are going and enjoy discovering what shows up and asks to be seen.
This year I have been making "Splatter Paintings" as a new technique for me to apply colors onto the textured canvas surface.
Making art is a way for me to explore areas of myself that relates to my place in the world.
