In June 2020 I saw an ad on Facebook about pyrography. It piqued my interest and I ordered the wood burning tool. I needed to do something to get me out of my funk after losing my wife of 26 years to cancer in 2018 and becoming disabled in 2019. I had had a difficult time moving on from losing my wife. But I started woodburning in my room on my bed. People liked what I was doing and I started selling some wooden plaques! I rented a space in Derry, N.H., that became my studio. Since then I've evolved into a creative machine. I can now do pyrography, create custom canes and walking sticks, HTV (iron-on) T-shirt transfers, hats, sublimation (mugs/steins), ink transfers to wooden plaques, and car decals. Right now, I'm trying to up my game and plan to participate in upcoming craft fairs, and flea markets.
