I am a fine artist from Contoocook, New Hampshire. I attended UNH Manchester, majoring in European History with minors in studio art and American Sign Language. After college I continued my art work whenever I could make time. Recently, I made the leap to become a full time artist. My work varies in medium – I explore oil, acrylic, mixed media, colored pencils, and ink. All pieces echo a love for New Hampshire's lush environment. Stylistically, my artwork has a surrealist feeling about it, with bright and vibrant colors, bending the world around into a sort of dreamscape. Art is my life's work and passion; creating is a vital necessity. I work from my home studio in Contoocook with my two rescue dogs (who love to help make art).
I grew up in Chelmsford, MA and started drawing and painting at a young age. I was inspired by my middle school teacher and ultimately won the prestigious Gold Key Award and was honored during a ceremony at Faneuil Hall in Boston.
As a young child I was fascinated with color and form and this is what started my interested in art, specifically painting. Throughout my educational years, art always remained my focus. In the years that followed, my love for art and creation took a back seat to family and work and for 35 years my for art and creation was dormant.
I live in Nashua with my beagle/hound Lovey, aka, the Love Bug. I studied Studio Arts at Oklahoma State University and Graphic Design at Hesser College. I specialize in Whimsical Expression – my paintings are primarily playful chromatic representations of Mother Nature’s amazing creation.
“Mystical”... “Spiritual”... are some of the responses to my work. But, I am not a mysterious person. For me the work is about the edges of seeing and the way an image appears or reappears on the periphery of an edge. In my paintings I use oil paint and transparent glazes because of the sensitive quality of the medium and the nuances of value I can achieve. My work is color, light and shadow, and value relationships that are in and about the square. Focusing on the square eliminates any vertical or horizontal elements or narrative suggestions. The subject is deceptively simple. One shape diffuses into its background allowing another to move to the foreground in a soft shift of color and value. I like the subtle way the relationship of foreground and background changes as one looks at the painting. The “atmospheric,” “mystical” movement is created by the eyes’ optical journey through the work.
I have always been aware of gourds and one day a few years back, I was curious as to whether or not I could grow a good gourd in the northeast. I have a hot sunny yard here in New Hampshire, so I thought it might be worth a try. Well it was, who would have thought I could grow such lovely gourds with our short growing season? Okay, now that I have gourds, what do I do with them? I scrubbed and dried and had several beautiful organic object, and now what? Experiment!!
I refer to myself as a Pajama Artist, I love waking up with my cup of coffee and heading down to my studio at home in my pajamas to create, to revive, to make come to life a new piece. My love of finding inspiration in old pieces of furniture, old rusty, or run down items, has always been a passion of mine. My art is my way to be creative in a therapeutic manner, while allowing me to share the beauty that is possible by giving new life and new beginnings to old things.
My childhood interest in art matured into a love of painting natural landscapes by my late twenties. I draw inspiration by carefully observing the simple and beautiful characteristics of nature and then creatively express them in many ways using varied media – acrylic, watercolors, oil, paper, clay, wood, etc. I am largely a self-taught artist, with a passion and joy for travel and photography that inspires creative expression in my artwork. I am an active member of many Southern NH & Greater Boston area art associations, inspiring and getting inspired by other co-artists.
I have been a watercolorist and an oil painter since 1965 where I was inspired by scenes of western Connecticut. Settling in New Hampshire in the 70’s I continued to paint and work in photography, spending 23 years working with the portrait photographer Arthur Whitty and painting freelance.
Fine Arts are an integral part of my design process. As a professional graphic designer, I spend a great deal of time developing ideas through illustration and sketches, which often develop into broader, non-commercial work. My children, Levity, Arabella, Music and Julian are all emerging artists, and their work is a constant inspiration for my own. We are a collaborative group exhibiting together at ArtWalk!

I became fascinated with marionettes at age six when I saw one in a toy store window. For my seventh birthday I received a marionette stage and a marionette and learned how to manipulate the string puppet by instructions on the box.
I have always been creative, and art has always been a big part of my life. Whether it was teaching art in school or to my children at home, I have always felt a strong connection to the fine arts. New England is full of beautiful scenes that are just waiting to be painted. My favorite scenes are from the east coast, where the seasons change and where we have so many opportunities to view beauty everywhere...the mountains, the seas, the lakes, and farmland.
I am a self-taught photographer living with my wife Beth in Nashua. I am very passionate about photography and I love to travel to new locations with my camera, where I enjoy shooting landscapes, animals and people, capturing unique images from all over the country. Find out more about my work at my web site and Facebook page.
My landscape drawings are done in pen and ink and are created through a rich blend of values and textures. I use a unique blend of cross hatching, contour and parallel lines, stippling and scrumbling techniques that create mood and feel of life and motion – as if I paint with my pens. While creation inspires most of my work, I also draw old barns and mill buildings that once were so central to New England life.
I am an artist based out of the attic of some lady's house in Nashua. Photography for me is collaborative art between myself and the rest of the world. Sometimes the rest of the world is nature, sometimes it is a scene passing by that I hope to steal for myself and my viewers, and sometimes it involves very, very patient friends. When I find a good photograph in the wild and take it, it feels like finding treasure. Usually when I take a photograph I feel like I am capturing or taking something (stealing) from the world.
As the discoverer of a process, a new form of 3D Art that generates color projections off a flat canvas when 3D glasses are worn, I have been creating art professionally for more than decade. Under the business name of Gidgeworld.com, the brilliant pallets in my on line art gallery can be enjoyed. I am also a NH state legislator and have introduced Bill 279 to study the Economic Impact of the Arts and culture. Bill 279 will give documentation to help to convince the public that when they celebrate, attend, invest in the arts and artists, it’s not just their hearts that are enriched, it has a significant impact on New Hampshire’s economy.
Process is my passion; the result of this passion is my artwork. Art making offers balance, a sense of calm. Patience, perseverance and passion.
Acrylic paintings, digital photos, note cards
My interest is in making abstract mixed media art. My paintings often look like an aerial view of rivers, deserts and mountain. They start with texture that I build up with plaster, sand, rocks and modeling paste. This I shape further by chiseling, scraping and sanding. I pour, drip, brush and push acrylic colors and gels onto the canvas.
“When paintings call out to us and challenge us, they fulfill their function, which is to transcend indifference.” — Dominique Boutaud
Creative Ventures Gallery, Pastel oils and watercolors
Having grown up in Sydney, Australia, I was exposed to diverse cultures, and in particular Aboriginal art. I have always admired the primitiveness of their paintings, their use of color and the way each painting tells a story.
When visiting my studio and gallery at Studio C in the new location of the Picker Collaborative Artists at 4 Pine Street you will find a diverse collection of award-winning images, from travel and landscape to abstract, and more. In addition to my commercial advertising and fine art photography, I teach photography and conduct several workshops annually.
These artists will be presenting demonstrations throughout ArtWalk Weekend!
am primarily a self-taught photographer and artist, capturing the outdoors with my camera for over 40 years. I have taken many courses and workshops to improve my skills in the constantly changing photo environment.
A native of Nashua, NH and lifelong resident, I attended local parochial schools and graduated from Rivier College with a BA in English Literature. Although my professional life centered on teaching English in local junior high schools, I devoted as much of my spare time as possible throughout my life to artistic pursuits.
Painting for me is deeply emotional and joyful. My painting is a record of my experience. Most of my work begins on site, en plein air, and is then later completed in my studio. As I begin a painting it is always an adventure that I hope will express the emotional experience that captured me in the first place. When it does, it is a beautiful mystery that stirs my soul every time that I look at it and is what I want to share with others. Painting initially was a hobby for most of my life until I recently made it my profession. My previous career, built upon a doctorate in psychology and licensed as a pastoral psychotherapist, focused on treating individuals and couples in private practice. During that time I was a student of the late prominent New Hampshire artist, Calvin Libby and then later a student at the New Hampshire Institute of Art. My most recent teacher of many years, who now remains my mentor and friend, is Maine Coast painter Stan Moeller. I am an associate member of the Oil Painters of America.
I am a sculptor of cloth and paper mache. I enjoy creating and bringing to life fantasy creatures. Many of the materials I use are simple or recycled items: cloth, newspapers, and wire hangers. I sculpt the piece of paper mache and give it a cloth skin, then use an airbrush to add color. You’d be surprised how strong my critters are! This is my third year at the Art Walk and I was pleased to be selected to do the Venetian Mask sculptures in front of the Hunt Memorial Building. Come find me at 30 Temple Street and adopt one of my creatures for your very own!

I am a visual artist working intuitively in acrylic, oil, encaustic, and clay. I am inspired by the everyday things I see around me . . . memories of passing moments . . . feelings that cannot be conveyed by words. Somehow they are translated into the nuances of my work through color, form, composition, and marks.
I create original oil paintings of landscapes, gardens, and market scenes in the impressionist style. I want my paintings to be light and warm so they make you feel good. I want to convey feeling – that’s the sole purpose of my work. I studied at the Leonardo Da Vinci School of Art, and the American University, both in Cairo, Egypt. My paintings are exhibited in national competitions, have won numerous awards, and may be seen in several galleries throughout the US. My affiliations include a juried member of the New Hampshire Art Association, a Signature Member of the National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society, and a Signature Member of Oil Painters of America. Come visit me Saturday during Art Walk at my gallery Maison de l’Art on East Pearl Street.

Executed on canvas, but playing with semi-transparent surfaces like matte Dura-lar, my media explorations include ink, graphite, carbon dust, gouache, watercolor, acrylic, pastel, pen and color pencils to press layering ideas and push images as far as possible. My work stands own its own singly but can be combined, multiplied and/or layered. I believe much of my work is best considered in multiples, and it is my vision to install “like” works on entire walls to create large-scale interpretations. Organic both in genesis and in resultant effect, y work is born of years of obsessive mark-making exploration.
I am a silversmith who enjoys creating one-of-a-kind pieces of wearable art. My specialty is designing and crafting custom pieces of jewelry commissioned by customers here in NH and across the country. I’ve been working for the past nine years in my studio in the Picker Building but now am located in the newly open Picker Collaborative Artists Building at 3 Pine Street, part of Nashua’s Historic Millyard district just off of Main Street.
